A View from Above

Since we get very few rain storms, our roof gets ignored most of the time. However we had a rain storm and a leak. We had a roofer come in and he thought it was due to our solar panels, and he was nice enough to tell Michael how to fix it on his own and didn't even charge us for the visit!

So yesterday Michael was up on the roof, and I thought I would tag along. It was a bit scary at first but it is worth the view! It was such a beautiful crisp blue sky day- I love those.

The picture below of the mountains has our neighbors house to the north of us. He used to own the whole street, so he positioned his house at the highest point on the street, and has windows all across his southern side. He has a spectacular view from his house. The mountains are still bare due to the fire, however there is signs of new growth which is nice.

I actually thought I took more pictures, but I guess I was just doing that in my mind, since I had so much fun looking at everything- that was until I had to go back down.

A Great Start to the Holiday's

Last night Michael and I attended "No Room at the Inn" at our church to raise money for the homeless. It was a display of lots of (about 200) Nativity scenes, we had a fun time looking at all the different scenes. Three of our neighbors attended so we had fun talking with them.

Maybe Michael had too much fun-since he woke up with a wine headache this morning but since he only had two small glasses he is blaming it on "Cheap red wine"or could it be the fact that he had the bar clean up duty, and he said that everyone agreed they couldn't let the open bottles go to waste?

Here is the display I offered for the festivities, it was made by my dad in 1989 and was the 3rd one he made.

Let the Christmas Season Begin!!

When my mom and sister were here visiting for Thanksgiving, they kept wanting to play Christmas music-but I wouldn't let them. I do not like to rush my holidays, so I only play Christmas music from Dec 1 to Dec 31.

One of the signs that the Christmas season is upon us is there is no more pool! We have solar panels on our roof to heat the pool, so we always like to try to keep it warm until the end of November when we do an annual plunge. However this year the pump to the solar panel broke, so it was a chilly 65 degrees for our plunge.

Although I usually delete all unflattering pictures of myself, and in the past the thought of sharing one of these unflattering poses would be out of the question- but I am posting this for documentation sake. The picture with me and the duck is more for symbolic purposes since you can not make out the 65 degree temperature that it read.

So With the plunge over it is officially time to start the Christmas season, and listening to my Christmas music. Although my CD collection is limited now thanks to a garage sale, we do however have about 18 Christmas CD's on the I-Pod.
