Trying New Things

Well the family invasion is over. We had a really nice time together and got to do lots of things. We tried to let everyone pick at least one thing that they wanted to do during the week-sometimes hard since there were 12 people and only 7 days.

My sister-in-law Kristen (the newlywed of the group) owns a horse and she picked horseback riding in the Hollywood hills. (I did not get a picture of Kristen riding, so here is a picture of her when we went sailing)

So Michael and I announce there will be a horseback riding trip the next day. Unbeknownst to me my sister-in-law Suzie has never been horseback riding - a fact I only found out about after we were about 1 1/2 hours into the ride, and her horse had been walking on the edge of the hills the whole time.

After I found this out- I was so proud of her trying something new- she did confess(after the fact) that she was nervous about the ride- but she didn't want that stopping Kristen from having a good day riding.

Suzie also told me that it felt good to get out of her comfort zone, and try something new. So today's advice is TRY SOMETHING NEW that you always wanted to do!

KERMIE'S BACK
Also Suzie gave me a good green tip that I never really thought about- Empty your water bottles in the plants instead of down the drain. (this sometimes means going outside-but it was worth the long walk to the front door, because it does make me feel good conserving water-CA is in a drought these days)

That comment took my breath away! I would have been petrified but you would have known I've never ridden a horse alone!! And I'm also afraid of heights.

Glad you can get some peace and quiet but I'm sure you had fun while you had them!

Welcome back, Theresa! Sounds like a great time was had by all.

Sorry we weren't able to get our schedules to coordinate..maybe next time when Linda is in town, we'll get it right!

Take care! *HUGS & SMILES*

I was proud of Sooz for horseback riding and I am really happy that Kristen was able to go!

I am actually working on the CA pictures (not sure about 100...) and I uploaded a new DVD program which is slowing my computer waaay down. Ugh!

Great vacation shots and it looks like you all had so much fun. I like the Kermit tip. I have a few house plants and sometimes I don't even have to take the long walk to the front door since I will pour unused water into the house plants.

OMG! I'll bet Suzie is sore, trying to keep her balance on the back of the horse and not being able to simply relax and let the horse do the work! I love riding...but it's not something I'd do as a novice on dangerous terrain! GOOD FOR HER! I think you need to give her a Gold Medal for Bravery!

I LOVE horseback riding, but I have to admit that it makes me a bit nervous every time. Once I was mounted on a mare in heat, and she suddenly decided to drop and roll around in the dirt...with me still on her! :0

Thanks for a GREAT green tip! :)
