On the way out of the harbor we go by the fog horn that alerts us to the break wall and also welcomes us home. Michael says it reminds him of Wall-e (great movie)
Otto (the name we give to the auto pilot) was not working so both of us took turns piloting the boat. The sail over to Catalina took about 5 hours.
One of the coolest part about the sail was since we went on Sunday and Monday there was hardly any traffic so we had terrific views of just ocean and sky all the way over to Catalina.
When we got to Catalina we (Michael) rowed us to shore in the dingy. We watched part of the Steelers game in a local bar. Then we took an underwater night sea tour in the green submarine. We saw lots of spiney crabs, orange fishes, and kelp.
Catalina Island is very cute 50-ish kind of island with lots of cool houses. I love how they just are build into the hills.
